MScIH - Application
Before applying, please check your eligibility at the General Information
Application Documents
In order to apply, you need to provide the following documents:
- MScIH application form
- Up-to-date curriculum vitae with a passport sized photo
- A one page statement of why you want to join this programme
- Proof of English language proficiency (see general information)
- Certified true copy of your degrees accompanied by a certified translation if they are not in English and a transcript of grades achieved.

Application Deadlines
Please note that there are different deadlines.
Self paying participants
- The general application deadline for the MScIH course is 30 April of the same year of the intended enrolment.
Participants applying for a DAAD Scholarship:
- Application deadline at DAAD August 31 of the preceeding year
- Application deadline at German embassies July 31 of the preseding year
- Application deadline at the Institute October 15 of the preceeding year
Applicaton with a Sponsor
Please note that application deadlines for scholarships depend on the sponsor institution you apply to!
Candidates have to apply to two different entities if they need external funding:
- Application to the course administration at Heidelberg for a place on the course
- Application(s) to potential sponsor organisations for financing
Application without a Sponsor
Please note: Candidates, who do not make their applications dependent on a scholarship but confirm that they cover all expenses by themselves, should contact the course office for more detailed information on expected costs.
