HELEN tools
See below (architecture) to determine in which components you are interested in. Then read the getting started for instructions how to set them up.
Architecture

If you are just interested in the data format (ontology) and the corresponding authoring environment, you will need:
- Protégé from Stanford University in the current version (3.1)
- The HELEN ontology
- The HELEN plugins for Protégé
If you additionally want to try the server environment, you will need:
Both components are available as automatically installing and instantly usable versions. For usage in a testing environment, the Guideline Viewer is configured to use an embedded database.
You can use the (German) example guidelines (1,2) in both environments.

Getting started
Authoring environment
Download and install Protégé 3.1. It is very important that you select full installation, because the HELEN plugins rely on that.
In the second step, download the HELEN plugins for Protégé and install them by unpacking the archive into the plugins subdirectory of your Protégé installation.
Start Protégé; it should give you a message that the HELEN authoring environment was loaded in the console.
Download the HELEN ontology and/or example guidelines and unpack them somewhere; you can load one of them by opening the .pprj file in Protégé.
Server environment
Download both the Guideline Execution Engine and the Guideline Viewer and run the installer (double click on the .jar file - you must have a Java VM installed).
Navigate to the installation directory of the GEE and start it by double-clicking GEENoWrapper.bat (Windows). Leave the console open until you want to terminate it again.
Start the Guideline Viewer: Navigate to the install dir and execute runme.cmd (Windows) by double-clicking it. Again, leave the console open until you want to terminate it.
Point your browser to localhost/helenwebapp and follow the instructions to setup the application. Please note that it is in German by now...
