Institut für Public Health
MScIH - Resources & Cooperators

Resources

An excellent basis for such a course of international standing and for operational field research is given through the facilities at the University of Heidelberg and the Department's contacts with other institutions:

Participants may use a broad range of the University's resources and facilities (e.g. the University library, computer pools, etc.).

Cooperating partners

Teaching staff is drawn from within the Institute of Health as well as from a number of other institutions (London, Liverpool, Islamabad and others).

The course is a permanent member of AGEP, the Association of German Postgraduate-studies.

GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation) is a main partner of the department. Cooperation in research and in management through our consultancy-group evaPlan allow to keep abreast with recent developments in science and health sector reforms. The experiencial knowledge gained is impassed to scholars through joint publications and teaching activities. Many field studies of MSc participants are hosted in GIZ-project areas.

The Institute of Public Health at Muhimbili University Centre for the Health Sciences (MUCHS) in Dar es Salaam is an important partner. GIZ and ourselves continue to support the Master of Public Health Programme at this institution. The programme started successfully in 1999. Cooperation in research and teaching continues growing.

Cooperations with Ministries of Health, Universities and individuals in NGOs and projects are too many to be listed here.

A special thank goes to all alumni hosting field studies of their present colleagues in the MScIH programme! They help to make the field study and thesis work one of the most fruitful and enjoyable features of the programme!
