Dr. Claudia Beiersmann



Claudia is a scientist and a member of the working groups “Disease Control in Disadvantaged Populations” and “Global Health Policies and Systems” at the Institute.

She worked on malaria and malnutrition in children in Africa and has experience in the application of qualitative and quantitative research methods. She has also previously worked for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) on disease outbreaks in Africa.

Currently she coordinates the “Migration and Health” project at the Institute and regularly participates in the CONTEXT TEACH project, a university partnership with CHRESO University in Lusaka, Zambia.

Claudia gives lectures on qualitative research methods in the Master in International Health and in the Public Health Anthropology short course. She is also involved in the organization of the Doctoral Seminar on Methods in International Public Health Research, the Global Health/Georg Forster Society, and the interdisciplinary Research Colloquium Migration. Furthermore she regularly takes part in conducting trainings and capacity building measures in Zambia.
