CARPuD 2 - "Cellular Approaches for Rare Pulmonary Diseases 2"

Opens external link in new windowCARPuD 2 ("Cellular Approaches for Rare Pulmonary Diseases 2") is a research network on rare diseases funded by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (Opens external link in new windowBMBF). The main objective is the generation of iPS-derived lung cells and their application for advanced studies on cellular disease mechanisms and development of transplantation strategies for regenerative therapies of rare lung diseases. The ultimate goal of CARPuD is the development of innovative iPS-based therapies for the treatment of rare lung diseases such as alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency (AATD), cystic fibrosis (CF), and surfactant deficiencies (SD). CARPuD 2 is coordinated by Prof. Ulrich Martin at Biomedical Researach in Endstage and Obstructive Lung Disease Hannover (Opens external link in new windowBREATH). TLRC investigators, under the leadership of Opens internal link in current windowProf. Marcus Mall, focus on induced pluripotent stem cells for the treatment of cystic fibrosis.
