Education and Training

Given global mobility, the future generation of doctors requires knowledge beyond imported infectious diseases. Today, more than ever, we are confronted with geographic heterogeneity of the diseases, which goes far beyond the field of infectious diseases: non-communicable diseases, for instance familial Mediterranean fever, haemoglobinopathies, expressions of psychiatric disorders varying across cultures and conditioned by geopolitics, etc. must be detected and treated properly. It is our particular concern to communicate specialist knowledge and raise awareness among students for the typically poor tropical regions.
