Welcome to the Heidelberg Research Centre for Molecular Medicine, HRCMM
Translating discoveries from the world of bioscience into diagnostic procedures and treatment strategies is a major challenge in modern medicine. The Heidelberg Research Centre for Molecular Medicine (HRCMM) is a brand new initiative founded in 2012 as part of the Excellence Initiative II of Heidelberg University and funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation) DFG.
The HRCMM's strategy is to overcome existing obstacles by offering medical students and scientifically orientated physicians outstanding development opportunities doing top-level international research and training towards becoming highly qualified physicians.
The HRCMM is based on the success of the Molecular Medicine Partnership Unit (MMPU) to effectively bridge between basic science and medicine. The MMPU, a joint venture between the EMBL and the Medical Center of the University of Heidelberg, offers HRCMM fellows full access to its state of the art infrastructure and provides internationally experienced mentors to help them grow as competent clinician scientist.
The HRCMM offers three different fellowships for MD students or MDs:
