Hoa T. Nguyen

MScIH

Doctoral Student

Hoa T. Nguyen is a development worker and a scientist trained in international health and health economics. Her research aims to identify the optimal way to allocate and utilize health care resources in low-income settings. The guiding principle for her work is to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the health system while ensuring equity and responsiveness to a society’s needs and expectations. To do this, she applies economic evaluation techniques and use mixed methods approaches to elicit public preferences for health care services and health financing policies. Before embarking on a research career, Hoa worked for several years at development agencies across Vietnam including UNICEF, WHO and CARE International. Her work covers a wide range of themes from providing social support to vulnerable children, optimizing health financing policies, and implementing HIV/AIDS prevention and control activities.
