Education and Training
AZKIM has set itself the goal of improving and expanding the quality and range of student teaching in the human medicine curriculum, the training of young scientists, and continuing medical education in the field of complementary and integrative medicine.
To this end, scientifically based findings from current research are to be incorporated into education and training and thus into solid application.
Initiatives in education include:
- The interprofessional training and counseling program “INSIGHT,” in which interested physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals learn the most important aspects of evidence-based counseling in integrative medicine and care in oncology, both theoretically and practically, over a period of nine months. More...
- Expansion of the complementary medicine content of interdisciplinary area 12 “Rehabilitation, Physical Medicine, Naturopathic Treatment” at the Universities of Tübingen and Freiburg. More...
- Establishment of a new elective subject “Applied Complementary and Integrative Medicine” at the University of Tübingen. More...
- Establishment of a new teaching module on “The Effect of Naturopathic Treatments on the Immune System” (“ImmuKIM”) at Heidelberg University. More...
- Establishment of a doctoral program/reseacrh training group train4CIM funded by the state graduate program at Heidelberg University. More...
The general medical university institutions in Tübingen (coordinator AZKIM partner Prof. S. Joos), Heidelberg, Freiburg and Ulm cooperate with the Baden-Württemberg Hospital Association, the Baden-Württemberg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, the Baden-Württemberg General Practice Coordination Centre and the Baden-Württemberg Medical Association in the Baden-Württemberg Centre of Competence for Further Training (KWBW).
The aim of the KWBW is to promote the attractiveness of further training in general practice. To this end, the KWBW offers a joint further training programme throughout Baden-Württemberg, the KWBW Verbundweiterbildungplus programme.
Seminars on complementary and integrative medicine are also regularly held as part of an accompanying, supra-regional seminar programme for physicians in further training in Baden-Württemberg.
