Range of services
As part of the Centre for Psychosocial Medicine, the Institute of Medical Psychology has a wide range of tasks and services:
1. In terms of research, the Institute's current projects focus on the following subject areas:
2 The psychotherapeutic services offered by our outpatient clinic are aimed at patients with physical and mental illnesses. We work in an interdisciplinary team, focussing on therapeutic work in a couple setting, and provide Clinical-psychological supervision.
3. Psychological counselling and support by the group "Gynaecological and Peripartum Psychology" is a focus of this group.
4. Since 2018, the Institute of Medical Psychology has been offering a consultation for older couples (in German only). It is also affiliated to our outpatient clinic for counselling and psychotherapy at the Institute.
5. The Medical Organisational Psychology Group offers a wide range of management, team and organisational consulting services, primarily for institutions and employees of the entire University Hospital. The group provides Team and case supervision as well as individual Psychosocial Counselling for employees (in German).
6. Analysis of psychobiological laboratory parameters, including psychophysiology laboratory and biochemical laboratory (analysis of hormones from blood and saliva samples): only for research projects!
7. Teaching focuses on teaching the content of medical psychology and medical sociology in the pre-clinical study programme for medical students at the Medical Faculty of Heidelberg University, but the Institute is also involved in the clinical study programme. In addition, events and lecture series take place outside the medical curriculum, which are open to students from all faculties (News).
