Familial colorectal cancer

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common types of cancer, with a hereditary cause in about 10-20% of cases. In particular, if several family members are affected and the onset of the disease is prior to 50 years of age, a hereditary cause must be considered. The most common form of hereditary colorectal cancer occurs in the context of the HNPCC syndrome. Our Institute offers extensive counseling and care to patients, their relatives and advice seeking families. For more detailed information regarding our genetic counseling of patients and their families please see our information leaflet Familial Colorectal Cancer.
