Research focus

The interaction (substrate properties/inhibition/induction) of drugs with drug-metabolizing enzymes and drug transporters relevant for pharmacokinetics as well as the activation of nuclear receptors (pregnane X receptor, aryl hydrocarbon receptor) is investigated by means of numerous in vitro assays.

Mission

Elucidating the interaction of drugs with human drug-metabolizing enzymes and drug transporters.

Background

To improve the design of clinical drug trials and to elucidate observed drug-drug interactions, it is essential to elucidate the drug-drug interaction potential prospectively or retrospectively in vitro.
