The Department of Applied Tumor Biology is a central unit of the <link zentrum-familaerer-dickdarmkrebs-universitaetsklinikum-heidelberg.hnpcc.0.html external-link-new-window einen externen link in einem neuen>Interdisciplinary Center of Familial Colorectal Cancer of the University Hospital Heidelberg and represents one among six centers of the German HNPCC Consortium (Verbundprojekt Familiärer Darmkrebs, funded by Deutschen Krebshilfe).

The Department of Applied Tumor Biology provides in cooperation with the Structural and Computational Biology Unit of the EMBL and the Central Unit for Biostatistics of the DKFZ the online database SelTarbase (Selective Targets in Human MSI-H Tumorigenesis Database / MNR_ensembl). SelTarbase is regularly updated by Stefan M. Woerner (former ATB, now Universitätsmedizin Mannheim, Institute for Clinical Chemistry) and Yan P. Yuan (EMBL).
