The Hospital for Radiooncology and Radiation Therapy is located at the Heidelberg University Hospital's Kopfklinik. Being one of the most modern centers for radiation therapy at an international level, it offers the whole range of radiooncological diagnostics and therapies. Only a few other centers in the world can offer the same range of treatment methods.
Every year, approximately 3,500 cancer patients are being treated in our Hospital. It is ensured that every single patient receives a radiation treatment at the highest international level.
Another of our principal tasks is to elaborate, in cooperation with the http://www.klinikum.uni-heidelberg.de/Nationales-Centrum-fuer-Tumorerkrankungen-NCT.910.0.html?&FS=&L=National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT), a therapeutic master plan for every individual patient. Beside the surgical-oncological disciplines, this also encloses all other specialists in oncology as well as additional consultation services, including for example psychooncology, social and nutritional counselling.
In 2009, this unique clinical-scientific environment has been complemented by the Heidelberg Ion-Beam Therapy Center (HIT), which can help patients, who are suffering from tumors that formerly could barely be treated radiotherapeutically, by means of its cutting-edge medical equipment and highly effective ion-beam radiation.
