Dr. Aurélia Souares

Senior Researcher

Aurélia Souares, MPH, Dr. P.H. (Pierre and Marie Curie University France, Institute of Research for Development, Senegal) has more than ten years research experience on access to health care and quality of care in developing countries, conducting health system research and community surveys. She has been employed as research associate at the Institute of Global Health, Heidelberg University since 2007. She has worked on assessment of the impact of financing innovations, in particular community-based health insurance, on quality of care, in Burkina Faso. Prior to joining the Institute of Global Health at Heidelberg, she worked at Institute of Research for Development in Senegal on the assessment of the impact on quality of care of new anti-malarial policies. Her main research interests include access to health care in developing countries, adherence to treatment and methods to measure adherence, health care financing, and quality of care. She has experience in survey design, development, implementation and analysis, as well as team management in intercultural context.
