Dr. Alec Cali

Postdoctoral Researcher

Dr. Alec Cali is the research group lead of disability and exclusion in healthcare with a demonstrated history conducting innovative mixed methodology research. Their research focuses on how personal experience with structural factors influence medical beliefs and practices. Dr. Cali has conducted qualitative and experimental research exploring how experiences and perceptions of institutions, health crises (e.g., the opioid epidemic), and COVID policy in High and Low and Middle-Income Countries intersect with structural factors and health history to influence health practices and beliefs. Their work has provided insights into how we can better address vaccine uptake, health literacy, and intuitional trust among patients traditionally excluded from intervention strategies. Dr. Cali’s work currently explores the mechanisms through which the health sciences can utilize novel metrics, innovative methodology to better reflect the needs of excluded populations in the health system.
