Global Health
Nutrition in Global Health

Content Overview

This short course provides an overview of public health nutrition and epidemiology, covering the evolution and scope of the field, the role of nutrition in disease prevention, and global trends such as the double burden of malnutrition. It explores nutrition across the life course—from maternal and child health to adolescence and ageing—while examining the classifications, global burden, and interventions related to malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies. The course also addresses nutrition in emergencies, including assessment tools, international standards, and pandemic response. Learners gain insights into food security, sustainable diets, and the influence of climate change and urbanisation on food systems. Finally, it introduces key nutrition policies, planning and advocacy strategies, the roles of major global agencies, and frameworks for monitoring, evaluation, and a One Health approach.
