Methoden wie die Fluoreszenz in situ Hybridisierung (FISH), die Vergleichende Genomische Hybridisierung (comparative genomic hybridization, CGH) und die 24-Farben-FISH-Analyse (Multiplex-FISH) für Mensch und Maus sind im Labor etabliert und bilden die Grundlage für eine Reihe von Forschungsprojekten.

Schwerpunkte des Forschungsinteresses sind:

  • die Anwendung molekular-cytogenetischer Techniken zur Identifizierung diagnostisch und prognostisch relevanter Chromosomenaberrationen bei Patienten mit Multiplem Myelom,
  • Chromothripsis als Mechanismus klonaler Evolution bei der akuten myeloischen Leukämie (AML),
  • SNP/CN Analysen zur Erkennung rekurrenter genomischer Imbalancen bei systemischer AL Amyloidose und Multiplem Myelom (MM)
  • M-FISH zum Nachweis und der Charakterisierung numerischer und struktureller Chromosomenaberrationen in soliden Tumoren, in Zellen mit dysfunktionellen Telomeren und in der Stammzellforschung (Mensch und Maus).
