Department of Medicine I and Clinical Chemistry

The department of Medicine I and Clinical Chemistry is focused on the treatment of pituitary Adenomas, adrenal as well as thyroid disease as classical endocrinological entities as well as the metabolic syndrome and diabetes. There is great expertise in risk stratification and prevention of metabolic as well as vascular complications. The treatment of diabetes type 1 and type 2 also comprises patient education with respect to glucose control and diet. There is also a long standing experience in the diagnosis and treatment of acquired and genetic lipid disorders.

 

The department has its own section for the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis. Treatment includes kyphoplasty of painful vertebral fractures. There is also a strong cooperation with the department of nephrology which has a large clinical programme for kidney and pancreas-kidney transplantations.
