Time and cell specific regulation of NF-κB subunit specific signalling pathways terminating inflammation in immunological systems

Summary

Sequential and cell-specific activation of different subunits of the transcription factor NF-kB and the combination of these subunits allows for the coordinated activation of gene clusters required for the cellular inflammatory and immune response. Yet only little is known about the signaling cascades involved in the differential activation of the different NF-kB subunits, their cell specificity and their effects on gene expression and termination of the inflammatory response. Within this proposal, we therefore aim to identify the temporal, spatial and cell-specific signaling pathways underlying the NF-kB-subunit mediated resolution of inflammation
