Abstract:

The EU-project ADVOCATE strives to optimise delivery of oral health and wellbeing to the population in EU Member States. This requires a change in oral health care delivery from restoration of diseased or damaged teeth towards prevention.
In order to achieve this objective, a model that promotes a preventive rather than restorative oral health care system needs to be developed. For this purpose, routine data of the health insurers will be evaluated with regard to effectiveness of delivery of oral health in Europe, presence of approaches for prevention and establishment of key-indicators to evaluate the quality of oral health care. In addition, the model will be extended by the results of a patient survey.
There are eleven project partners out of six EU member states involved.
