Resources

An excellent basis for such a course of international standing and for operational field research is given through the facilities at the University of Heidelberg and the Department's contacts with other institutions:

Participants may use a broad range of the University's resources and facilities (e.g. the University library, computer pools, etc.).

The institute is also equipped with a library.
Book lending is placed on the main floor, room 005.
Opening hours are: Monday-Thursday 14:00-16:00 p.m.

Cooperating partners

The course is a permanent member of AGEP the German Association of Postgraduate Programmes with special Relevance to Developing Countries.
AGEP is an umbrella organization comprising various postgraduate study programmes oriented to developing and threshold countries as well as countries with economies in transition.

GIZ German Agency for International Cooperation is a main partner of the department. Cooperation in research and in management through our consultancy-group evaPlan allow to keep abreast with recent developments in science and health sector reforms. The experiencial knowledge gained is impassed to scholars through joint publications and teaching activities. Many field studies of MSc participants are hosted in GIZ-project areas.

The Institute of Global Health at Muhimbili University Centre for the Health Sciences (MUCHS) in Dar es Salaam is an important partner. GIZ and ourselves continue to support the Master of Public Health Programme at this institution. The programme started successfully in 1999. Cooperation in research and teaching continues growing.

Cooperations with Ministries of Health, Universities and individuals in NGOs and projects are too many to be listed here.

A special thanks to our alumni hosting field studies of their present colleagues in the MScIH programme! They help to make the field study and thesis work one of the most fruitful and enjoyable features of the programme!
