EVIMalaR Second Call

Applications were submitted online via www.evimalar.org and were due by 28 February 2011, after 4 months of advertising in appropriate scientific journals and on the web. 721 students registered, showing interest in the Programme and finally 201 submitted their applications. Most candidates were from India or African countries and the average age lay in the mid twenties.

During a preselection phase the best 39 students have been selected based upon:

- grades and certificates

- letter of motivation

- existence and qualitiy of letters of recommendation

- experience in the field of infectious diseases

A special Selection Committees for each of the five research area has then chosen, from the preselected ones, 22 candidates to invite. Finally 22 accepted our invitation. The candidates had to choose up to 3 of the 18 projects. One project has not been selected by any student, therefore we interviewed only for the remaining 17 projects.

Interviews were held at EMBL, Heidelberg (Germany), 25th - 27th May, 2011.
