Integrated network of patient management for localized prostrate cancer launched

 

On the 11th of July 2005, a long awaited new model of patient care and management was launched. In doing so, the prospect of an even more intensified cooperation in the individual care of patients with localized prostate cancer between the Urological University Clinic of Heidelberg and the established primary care urologists in the extended region was officially initiated. The foundation for this joint venture, aimed at insuring optimal patient care, was enabled by an official agreement between the physicians and some of the largest statutory health insurance co-operations. All involved parties are willing to abide by the agreement reached in the management of all patients according to the official guide lines of the interdisciplinary National Centre for Tumours diseases (NCT) in Heidelberg.
