Coordinator: Prof. Dr. Wetter

Abstract:

Depression is hard to diagnose at an early stage and also subject to taboo in various countries. When diagnosed early the prognosis of treatment is good while beyond a certain stage a normal life is no longer possible, up to suicidal risks. By using different Consumer Health Informatics services affected persons shall be identified early and subsequently be offered treatment without charging them with additional investigations and without making the problem known to third parties. We develop and evaluate the usefulness of natural language processing off chunks of text in social networks and Internet versions of approved standardized paper questionnaires.
