Zahia Wasko is a health scientist whose focus is on social determinants of health, health inequity, and social epidemiology. Currently, she is engaged in research on historical ethnic diversity and mortality in Nouna, Burkina Faso as part of her doctoral thesis in global health. She was also involved in empirical research projects on non-communicable diseases and access to healthcare and health services in rural Burkina Faso.
Previously, she worked at a prestigious sports medicine hospital in Doha, Qatar as a senior registered nurse where she engaged in medical screenings of international athletes, designing, and delivering health promoting programs, as well as quality assurance of healthcare services.
