Abstract:
In the context of the project a new „Biomedical Center of Excellence” was founded and successfully established at Yarmouk University, Irbid (Jordan). The Biomedical Center of Excellence offers educational programs in the field of Bioinformatics, Medical Informatics and Biomedical Engineering. Moreover, the Center acts as an incubator for research projects in this area.
The Center’s main educational programs are the two newly developed curricula “Medical Informatics” and “Biomedical Systems”. Currently, 223 students are enrolled in these programs. 13 Jordanian lecturers were trained at one of the European partner universities in order to be well prepared for giving the lectures in the new programs. 20 students were given the opportunity to visit one of the European partner universities for up to three months.
Furthermore, 3 training courses for professionals with more than 240 participants were given by European trainers. Additionally, numerous workshops joined by more than 1000 people and an industrial show were held at Yarmouk University.
