Secondary cataract (posterior capsule opacification)

After implantation of an intraocular lens as an exchange for the natural lens, it is possible that vision decreases again after some time. This is due to an opacification of the posterior lens capsule in wich the artificial lens was placed, not an opacification of the intraocular lens itself.

We examine the type and frequency of secondary cataract and its possible reduction by mechanical factors or pharmacological preventive approaches.
