NEW_LIVES at the ICBM in Vancouver

Last month, Elena Doll M.Sc., Ph.D. student in the subproject Medical Psychology visited the ICBM (International Conference of Behavioral Medicine) in Vancouver. The congress was organized under the motto "From Local to Global: Behaviour, Climate, and Health" and thus was dedicated to an important contemporary subject area, in which our project fitted very well. Elena presented the current status and preliminary findings of a review on parents’ decisions about genetic testing in pediatrics, on which further empirical work within the subproject is to be based. The conference was a great opportunity to exchange ideas with other scientists conducting research on medical decision-making in other contexts. In addition, we were able to draw attention to our research project and the need for (psychological) research on the increasingly relevant topic of genomic newborn screening and genomics in general.  Methodological workshops rounded off the stay.
