We are looking for participants for our study on biology and behavior in mother-infant bonding.

Positive interpersonal relationships are essential for human well-being. Attachment theory emphasizes the importance of infant-mother interactions, as early life experiences can act as a kind of "blueprint" for later relationships.Mental illness can affect social behavior and cause children and adolescents to have great difficulty establishing long-term healthy interpersonal relationships. In order to develop better support services, the study examines biological and behavioral bases of mother-child attachment in children and adolescents with and without mental illness.

The study includes:

  •     Interviews
  •     Answering questionnaires
  •     Saliva sampling
  •     Measurement of heart rate and brain activity
  •     Presentation of images on the computer
  •     Duration of the study during 2 appointments approx. 3 hours each

Criteria for study participation:

  •     Adolescents who want to participate in the study together with their mother (adoptive mother, foster mother, other female                   caregiver)
  •     Age of the adolescents: 12-17 years
  •     Health of the adolescents: no mental illness
