Outpatient parenteral anti-infective therapy (OPAT)
Outpatient parenteral anti-infective therapy is a new form of care that has been established in Germany in recent years. Patients who require intravenous anti-infective therapy to treat a complex infection can administer it themselves or have it administered by a caregiver at home. This shortens the length of inpatient stay and allows patients to recover more quickly in their familiar surroundings. For cases identified during the consultation service, we organize OPAT with cooperating outpatient pharmacies and oversee patient care throughout the treatment process.
