Tips for the first section of the medical examination

The subject catalogue (GK, 2nd edition 2010) has been binding since autumn 2012. To prepare for the first section of the medical examination, we recommend

• the main lecture by Prof Dr Beate Ditzen and guests and staff in the 1st and 2nd semesters
• our seminars in the 4th FS
• the textbook by Faller & Lang (2019) and Endspurt Vorklinik PsychSoz
• as well as practising "crossing"

Please do not underestimate the learning effort: 60 of the 320 written questions on the exam relate to the basics of medical psychology and medical sociology (see www.impp.de)! You have an average of 90 seconds to answer each question. You will learn how to "cross" at Miamed/Amboss (campus licence with solutions and flashcards). It is better to work through the Faller & Lang textbook beforehand to understand the correlations and applicability. Medical psychology/medical sociology are only examined in writing according to the new ÄAO .
