In the 1st and 2nd semesters you should attend the lecture "Medical Psychology and Medical Sociology" (no registration required). You also have the opportunity to attend the course"AaL-plus"course.
As a prerequisite for admission to the seminars (in the 4th semester), you will write a compulsory written exam on the content of the lecture at the end of the lecture in the middle of the summer semester. If you do not pass this exam, we will offer a date for the make-up exam as soon as possible. If you also fail the make-up exam, you will be invited to an examination interview at our institute in the winter semester. In this interview, you will be asked about examples of the content of the lecture or the textbook so that we can clarify any possible difficulties in understanding the content or language together.
We recommend that you complete a four-week nursing internship before starting the medical psychology/medical sociology course. You have the opportunity to acquire credit points for the course from the 2nd to the 4th semester. You can choose freely from all courses on medical psychology/sociology, although the number of participants is limited for most courses (courses: maximum 16 students). In order to give you the greatest possible freedom of choice, a certificate can be obtained not only in one course (A course = 4 credit points = 28 teaching hours), but also in a combination of two shorter courses (B course = 2 credit points = 14 teaching hours). A written certificate of achievement is required for this.
You will be assigned to the seminar in the 4th semester by the Office of the Dean of Studies of the Faculty of Medicine (admission requirement: passed written exam at the end of the lecture in the 2nd semester; no options; maximum of 20 students). This seminar comprises 2 credit points (= 14 teaching hours) and a written record of achievement is required.
If you have attended the course(s) (totalling 4 credit points) and the seminar (2 credit points) and provided the two written certificates of achievement, your "passed course" or "passed seminar" will be uploaded to "heiCO" by our teaching secretariat.
To register for the first section of the medical examination, you will need the "passed course" in medical psychology/medical sociology and the "passed seminar" in medical psychology/medical sociology as well as proof of a three-month nursing internship (see also Study regulations 1st and 2nd year)
