Summary

Our lab studies the role of the immune system in cardiovascular disease. The main focus of the lab is on atherosclerosis. On the one hand we are specifically interested in the role of monocytes, monocyte-derived macrophages and dendritic cells; on the other hand we are focused on tertiary lymphoid organs. Our goal is to identify novel pathomechanisms of atherogenesis, which may result in novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Additional research projects of the lab include pathomechanisms of transplant vasculopathy, mechanisms of acute cardiac allograft rejection and effects of cardiovascular inflammation on myocardial function.
