Scholarships

Heidelberg University does currently not provide any scholarships or financial assistance for the MScIH programme. Therefore we encourage future students to find their own sources of funding.

Applying for Scholarships

Candidates applying for grants and third-party funding should:

  • submit their application for admission to the Master of Science in International Health
  • submit their application for scholarships or sponsorships to potential funding organisations

Application deadlines for scholarships depend on the respective funding agencies and institutions and might vary from the application deadline of the MScIH programme at Heidelberg University.

DAAD

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provides a number of scholarships to international students pursuing higher education in Germany. A limited number of scholarships are available for students pursuing development-related postgraduate courses such as the MScIH programme at Heidelberg University.

Applications for the Master of Science in International Health with DAAD scholarship request are administered by the Institute of Global Health.

To be eligible for the EPOS scholarship your last academic degree may not be older than 6 years. For more detailed information on application requirements and country-specific application procedures, please see the DAAD scholarship database

Applications should to be submitted online between 15 May and 15 October of the year preceding the commencement of Master's programme. Application Deadline for DAAD Scholarships 2020/21: 15 October 2019.

Late and incomplete applications cannot be considered. All applications have to be submitted online. Hardcopy applications will not be considered.

Please note that you must include your DAAD scholarship application form and any other documents (if applicable) as part of your MScIH online application. You do not have to submit your supporting documents twice.

The selection process for DAAD scholarships starts in October. Candidates will be informed about the outcome of their application by February. Although the Institute of Global Health can nominate candidates for scholarships, the final decision lies with the DAAD.

KAAD

The Catholic Exchange Service (KAAD) may provide a limited number of scholarships for students from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. For further information, please see the KAAD website.

Bread for the World

Bread for the World - Protestant Development Service is the gloablly active development and relief agency of the Protestant Churches in Germany. As such it may provide financial assistance for the MScIH programme. For more information, please see Bread for the World
