A8: Generation of human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and their use for the generation of a skin equivalent
Jochen Utikal
Patient-derived iPS cells might be an ideal source for studying complex diseases in vitro and potentially for treating disorders in the clinic. Different human cell types will be reprogrammed into iPS cells. Resulting iPS cells will be gene targeted in order to study gene expressions involved in the differentiation of keratinocytes and melanocytes. Keratinocytes and melanocytes differentiated from iPS cells will be used for the generation of organotypic skin cultures and tested for their functionality. These studies will provide new insights into the generation and differentiation of iPS cells.
