Group Members
Priv.-Doz. Dr. med Benito Campos, MBA
Group Leader
Benito Campos is head of the Science Communication Research group at the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health. He is a board-certified neurosurgeon with an MBA from Mannheim Business School. Originally graduating as medical doctor from Heidelberg University, he received further training as visiting researcher at UC Berkeley, the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Technical University of Denmark where he served as affiliated associated professor. Over the last 20 years, his medical research interests included a broad range of fields, including oncology, bioinformatics, immunology, nutrition and chronic pain.

Sude Altunok
Research Intern
Sude Altunok is a medical student with a strong background in developing and testing innovative science communication formats, including digital platforms. Her scientific interests focus on the visualization of medical information and the use of generative AI in science communication.

Sena Altunok
Research Intern
Sena’s is a research interests center on the use of social media for science communication and the development of new formats and channels in this field. She also studies social media usage in Sub-Saharan Africa. Sena is currently pursuing a medical degree.
