Julia Feriato Corvetto

Doctoral student

Julia Feriato Corvetto is a doctoral student (Dr. med.) and scientific assistant at the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health since 2022. Her work interests are on the impacts of climate change - extreme weather events and heat - on mental health. This is the least studied area on climate change, therefore she aims to raise awareness of the heat-related risks among psychiatric patients, health professionals and caregivers and provide scientific evidence for policymakers, in Brazil.

For her thesis, she uses quantitative methods to measure the effects of heat on the emergency department visits for mental conditions, including suicide attempt, in the Brazilian city of Curitiba.

Prior to her doctoral studies, Julia worked as a general practitioner at emergency services, in Brazil, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
