Dr. Veronica Shiroya

Dr. Veronica Shiroya is a global public health professional with experience in health services research, policy, and community-based practice. Her work focuses on improving health systems and advancing equity in care for underserved and marginalized populations, through participatory and evidence-informed approaches.
At the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health, Veronica contributes to the development, implementation, and process evaluation of health interventions aimed at improving access, quality, and equity in NCD service delivery. Her research supports system-strengthening efforts with a focus on integrated, people-centered care models.
At the Medical Faculty Mannheim (CPD), she is a Postdoctoral Researcher whose work centers on the prevention of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases in structurally disadvantaged populations. Her research explores the intersection of climate change, health access, and prevention, with particular attention to how environmental and structural factors shape vulnerability and access to care.
Veronica brings methodological expertise in qualitative analysis, applied mixed methods, participatory action research, and process evaluation. Her research approach is grounded in community engagement and systems thinking, aiming to generate actionable evidence for more inclusive and equitable health systems. She has also collaborated with international agencies to support the integration of community-based approaches into health policy and practice.
