CLINIC STRUCTURE

The Department of Neurology and Polyclinic is part of the Neurological Clinic and provides the entire range of neurological diagnostics and therapy at Heidelberg University Hospital with over 340 employees and more than 180 nursing staff.

We care for and treat >8,000 inpatients and >23,000 outpatients per year on a total of 6 mostly highly specialised wards in the Head Clinic (84 beds), 2 external wards - in Heppenheim District Hospital and in the GRN Clinic in Sinsheim (8+24 beds) - as well as in the emergency outpatient clinic of the Head Clinic and our 16 specialist outpatient clinics .

Our department specialises in neuro-oncology, vascular neurology, neuroimmunology, systemic neurosciences, acute and intensive care neurology and neurodegeneration. These specialisations combine interdisciplinary patient care to the highest quality standards with innovative research. The department has 4 professorships and 16 research groups , which aim to translate the latest scientific findings into better treatment strategies for our patients at an early stage.
