Our department benefits greatly from interaction with numerous departments at Heidelberg University Hospital, partners on the Neuenheim biomedical campus and in the region, as well as (inter)national collaborations.

Examples are the study activities in the Neurooncological Association(NOA) and the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer(EORTC), the international laboratory seminar with the Department of Neurooncology at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard University), the DFG Research Unit "Calcium Homeostasis in Neuroinflammation and Degeneration"(FOR 2289), the Collaborative Research Centre 1389 "UNDERSTANDING AND TARGETING RESISTANCE IN GLIOBLASTOMA - UNITE", the globally recruiting intensive study on early tracheotomy (SETPOINT2) and the concept of structured regional stroke care, which Prof. Werner Hacke has developed over the past 30 years. Key partners at the University Hospital are the Department of Neurosurgery, the Departments of Neuroradiology, Neuropathology and Radiation Oncology as well as the NCT, the DKFZ and Heidelberg University.
