November 2023A "European Centre for Neurooncology" funded by the Dietmar Hopp Foundation is established at the Heidelberg Medical Faculty of Heidelberg University and Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD). The new centre is headed by Professor Dr Wolfgang Wick.

July 2022From 7 July, a monthly Journal Club "Qualitative Health Services Research" will be offered for (international) students and doctoral candidates, alternating between German and English. June 2022Neurosurgical and neurological intensive care medicine covers all common aspects of general intensive care medicine, but also numerous specialised areas. The compact course "Neurointensive: Hands-On Workshop" will take place on 22-24 June 2022 to give colleagues interested in neurointensive medicine an understanding of this specialist knowledge, especially in practical terms. An additional ultrasound module will also be offered on 25 June 2022. See flyer for further information.

July 2020Dr Erik Jung received the 2019 Andreas-Zimprich Prize, which is endowed with 2500 euros and is awarded for outstanding medical doctoral theses in the field of neuro-oncology. Erik Jung investigated how glioma cells communicate in tumour cell networks, how they mediate resistance to therapies and which key molecular mechanisms are involved in their formation.

May 2019The Collaborative Research Centre "Understanding and targeting resistance in glioblastoma" (CRC 1389) is newly established to understand and specifically combat resistance in glioblastoma - a serious and usually fatal disease in children and adults.
