Outpatient Departments

In addition to emergency care, our Department of Neurology offers various specialised outpatient clinics for the outpatient diagnosis, consultation and treatment of patients with neurological issues. Our outpatient care is primarily aimed at people with an illness that is still unclear or difficult to treat. In 2015, we cared for and treated more than 23,800 patients in our emergency outpatient clinic and our 10 specialised outpatient clinics.

Specialised teams from medicine and nursing discuss the specific diagnostic and therapeutic options together with the patients - interprofessionally and, if necessary, on an interdisciplinary basis due to the special structure of the Kopfklinik. Participation in current clinical studies is also examined. In this way, treatment is planned individually for each patient and carried out according to the latest scientific findings. We treat our patients according to internal standards and the guidelines of the German Society of Neurology(DGN), the European Association for Neurooncology(EANO) and the European Stroke Organisation(ESO). There is close spatial and structural cooperation with numerous departments and clinics at the University Hospital, including Neuroradiology as part of the Department of Neurology, the Department of Neurosurgery, the Departments of Radiooncology and Anaesthesiology, the Institute of Human Genetics, the Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat, Paediatric, Skin and Psychosomatic Clinics and the Department of Internal Medicine.

Our emergency, neuro-oncological, neurovascular and neuroimmunological outpatient clinics provide outpatient care. We also advise our patients in specialised outpatient clinics for movement disorders, botulinum toxin therapy, epilepsy, amyloidosis, headaches and neurogenetic and neuromuscular diseases.
