Health Economics Winter School 2023

The Health Economics Winter School organised by the DKFZ Division of Health Economics in collaboration with Heidelberg University will be introducing and reviewing basic and innovative concepts of health economic evaluations – primarily in the context of health technology assessments (HTAs), and highlighting current issues in the use of health economics to inform market access and reimbursement decisions.

The Winter School Program 2023 is composed of two modules: basic (Module A) and advanced (Module B). Basic Module A (February 06-07, 2023) will introduce the fundamental concepts of health economics and address the use of health economic evaluations in the context of health technology assessment (HTA) in theory and practice. Advanced Module B (February 08-10, 2023) will address current issues in the use of health economics to inform market access and reimbursement decisions – expert presentations and panel discussions will facilitate debate with participants on various topics including strengths and limitations of conventional cost-effectiveness analyses, the role of social norms and preferences, as well as recent trends in medical research and development.
